Chinese Floods

The Chinese floods in southern China and South Eastern China have caused many deaths and forced over 700,000 to evacuate from their homes. And it is going to get worse before it gets better as meteorologists are predicting another 3-4 days of strong storm surges, but the water has no where left to go. Over ninety people in one village were swept away by the flooding so far and all are presumed dead and that is just in the last two days.

The Guangxi region has been experiencing torrential rains since last Saturday with no sign of relief. In the last three weeks an additional 180 people have drown or been buried alive in mud. The Guangxi southern coast is one of the poorer regions of the country.

Many are calling this the worst rains in over 100 years and some water levels have been as high as the three story buildings. One river was 28 feet above the danger level, so there was no chance of coming out of this event unscathed. Another 50 plus deaths and they expect more were reported in the South Eastern Province of Fujian. Another 117 people mostly children were killed in the Heilongjiang Province as well.

No one knows for sure what the final death toll will be or if all the deaths so far have actually been reported. It is estimated by some flood experts it could easily be double or triple the present number in the official reports. Our weather around the globe seems to be at issue and many of these storms, droughts, heat waves and cold snaps are breaking all sorts of records. Think on this climate change thing for me.
